It’s time to pull out all the outdoor entertaining supplies and take a good look at what you have and maybe rethink a thing or two.
It’s time to really declutter for summer!
Check out the quick checklist below of anything and everything to get rid of before you start your backyard entertaining. Think hard about how often you use the stuff! Think also about how you plan to use it this summer. If you can’t bring yourself to get rid of it, mark it with a sticker somewhere or write a list of the items and donate them at the end of the season if you still haven’t used them!
- Tableware – plates, bowls, cups, straws, cutlery, napkins, placemats. If you have a lot of extra supplies because you never know when you will host that big neighbourhood party, either host it already, or get rid of some of the supplies!
- Serving ware – bowls, platters, juice jugs. Go through other unique tools like a watermelon slicer or a melon baller… maybe you don’t actually need them!
- Candles – old mostly burned candles, or candles that don’t smell fresh anymore, OR, if you have a lot of candles, try to get rid of half of them!
- Outdoor lights – check for broken lights or burnt out bulbs – consider also cleaning the cords!
- BBQ tools – think grilling mats or baskets, cleaning brushes, flippers, and tongs.
- Planters – get rid of old or broken planters, get rid of empty planters, or consider planting something new in them to freshen up the yard!
- Outdoor furniture – look at your cushions, consider washing them. Examine your furniture for wear and tear. Maybe you can make a bit of money selling the furniture that no longer suits your needs!
- Outdoor games – toss any broken parts and pieces, double check for all the pieces in games or activities, ask yourself if you still play with it, maybe it’s time to get rid of it so that you can try something else.
Get started with the list above! You never know where it could lead.
