Kick the clutter for August

August is such a bitter-sweet month for me! It means there is only one month left of what seems like freedom to have fun with the kids – I mean, who doesn’t love fielding the question “Can I have screen time now?” a million times throughout the day?? In all honesty, though, I do have a lot of fun doing random things with the kids, so I hate to see the time go by so quickly. It’s also a time when I feel excited about the upcoming routine of the school year and other opportunities for the kids to follow their own passions.

Kick the clutter for August is all about habit practicing!

August is a great time to start practicing some of the routines you really want the kids to start acting on by September. If they are not readers, you could start reading for a bit of time every day to get them used to the daily habit. If you want to start eating healthier, why not use August to practice some habits so that when September comes, you are ready to make those quick healthy meals. If you want the kids to do more chores, use August to build up some chore routines that the kids can do. Practice them now so the kids realize the chores don’t actually take that much time. Who knows, they might actually do some of them still come September!

August is the practice-for-September month, but also a month to build in some big fun so they have something to share when returning to their friends at school.

I will share more through the month about back to school routines, chores, and some other simple ways to add healthy habits to your daily routine. Routines get messed up after the summer break, so declutter the routine through August to get on track as you either head back to work or as the chaos of the school year rears its head!

For now, start thinking about your September and what you want to focus on. Start thinking about some habits you might want to change to make your September even better. Test those habits through August to work out the kinks!

Thanks for coming home!
