Letting go is hard

Letting go of stuff means letting go of a bit of yourself. It means you have to let yourself down. It’s sad. It creates all kinds of losses! You may even get rid of everything to do with a certain interest you used to have, which again creates all kinds of sad internal feelings!

But in the process of all that loss or hurt, you find something even better.

You find your new self; your now self! You can focus on what interests you now rather than hold on to what the past you wanted to do. You give your current life power.

Sure, you may have had all kinds of different expectations of your life when you were 15 or 20, even 30 or 40. You probably had different expectations of yourself or your life when your kids were 5, 10, or even 20 or 30. But those times are over. The expectations from those times are over, too. It’s time to say goodbye and peace out to all that.

Don’t get so focused on the negative feelings that come with the journey of decluttering. Give your current self a chance instead. Focus on the you from today, help mold that person so that in 5 or 10 years you can admire the you that you let yourself become after getting rid of all the previous versions of you! You can long for those versions back, but in the end, you are only the you from today. The you from the past had their chance. In order to successfully declutter, you need to let those past versions of you go!

It doesn’t mean you have failed that previous version of yourself. The timing just wasn’t right. But that also doesn’t mean that you need to hold onto all the goals and dreams from those previous versions.

Practice getting rid of small bits of those older versions of yourself and feel the weight being lifted off your shoulders. You don’t need to let those versions follow you around all the time. They don’t need to haunt you. Allow yourself to slowly let go and really become the now version of you!

Give yourself a fresh start! Give your today you a try!

Thanks for coming home!
