Ok, so you get up in the morning, have your coffee, get the kids to school or maybe finally get them to bed or nap… then all of a sudden, you find yourself in your house…alone! You glance around to double check. Yep, you are finally all by yourself. You know you’ve got some chores to do, but freedom is calling.
Here’s my 3-step system to ensure you give yourself freedom AND get your chores done. Win-win all around!!
Step 1
Start with the most fun or the easiest chore of the day! This will make you feel proud of yourself for accomplishing SOMETHING! It doesn’t matter how easy this chore or task is as long as it’s a chore or task that you are actually kind of excited to do! Use the energy from completing it to jump into step 2!
Step 2
Do your most dreaded chore immediately after completing step 1. IMMEDIATELY!! If you take a break after getting that first fun chore done, you may not start chores again for the day, you may feel proud of yourself for doing anything at all and that might just make you feel like you have done enough. Before you sit, though, or even take too long to be proud, immediately jump into the worst chore of the day! It will be done soon enough, and then the fun can really amp up! Don’t even take time to think. Just get right into it! Now, feel proud then carry on to step 3.
Step 3
Do a quick but big impact chore! This can be as simple as straightening the shoes at the front door or hanging coats. Vacuuming the front hall rug or even the whole main floor. It can be doing the dishes or clearing, then wiping the table. It just has to be something that makes you step back and go wow. That’s not to say it has to take you all day. I’m thinking more of a 15-20 minute big impact chore!
If you start your day with this 3-step process in mind, you will be able to get all kinds of things done by the end of the day. Feel proud of your productivity and STILL have time to chill out and enjoy the day! Do it without feeling guilty because you did actually complete your chores first!!!
Now go pick your 3 steps and get started!
