The power of consistency!

No goal can ever be achieved without consistency! Consistency truly is what makes goals happen, what makes results appear, and it’s what gives you a huge confidence boost!

Sure, you can prove me wrong. My oldest seems to be loving doing it these days. So, with him in mind, if you have a goal to cut the grass today, you can head out and do it, and it doesn’t have a relationship with consistency. BUT, if you want a nice lawn – you need to consistently take care of it by using seed, fertilizer, and regular mowing, nay, consistent mowing!!

If you want to lose weight, you need to consistently make mostly healthy choices when it comes to food and add some fitness into your routine.

If you want a clean and tidy house, you need to consistently work on keeping things tidy daily and get everyone in the house on board so that their consistent action is helping and not working against you.

If you have a big project or deadline at the end of the year at work, you need to consistently keep people working and up to date on progress and you need to work at it often until it’s done!

If you want to learn a new language, you need to consistently study and practice using that language!

It doesn’t matter how passionate you are about your goal, it doesn’t matter how much you want to achieve it, it doesn’t even matter if you don’t get the results you want right away!!!

All that matters is that you do SOMETHING towards that goal every day! AND, here’s the kicker. Ready? What you do doesn’t have to be perfect!!!!

Those goals at the beginning of the post are all great examples. So you want to lose weight! Eventually, you are going to eat something other than a kale salad and a smoothie! Maybe you miss pigging out on chips! So give yourself a ‘reasonable’ bowl of chips! To stay consistent with your goal, maybe you can go for a longer walk or run, or try a new fitness class. Maybe you have your kale salad with a side of chips! Being consistent WILL get you the results you’ve been dreaming of. Stay the course! If you work hard for a week or a month and still don’t see the results you want, stick with it longer!

Stay consistent!

Same with keeping your house tidy! Don’t give up once it’s messy again. Do a little bit of tidying every day! Eventually, you will start to see that the amount of tidying at the end of each day is a little less. Stay consistent. Use a timer if you need to. Do 20 minutes every night! Pick something that you can stay consistent with and keep at it!

No matter what your goal is! BE CONSISTENT in your practice!

Consistent action is always better than perfection. It’s even better than passion!

Consistency also breeds confidence. The longer you stick to your consistent action, the more confident you become about what it is you’re doing because… eventually… the results follow your consistent action! People won’t notice the daily, consistent work that you are putting in, but they will for sure notice the results!

On a personal note, without consistency, I never would have reached post #300!!! That’s right! This is post #300! It’s a bit crazy to me to think about it. I started this blog in the thick of COVID, looking for a release, wanting to keep myself accountable to someone to have a tidier, less cluttered home, AND, hoping to share some of my ideas with all of you so that it can help you too!

Screw what the day to day results show, just stay consistent. You can make magic happen!

Thanks for coming home!
