It’s time to make a difference with the clutter consuming your living areas. I’m talking about the front hall or family rooms. Make things easier for yourself by getting rid of even just a few things!
Here’s the top 5 things to get rid of from the living spaces.
#5 on the list is any books you haven’t read yet or that you’ll never read again. If you have a stash of books that have been taking up space on your bookshelf, it’s time to go through them all and get rid of a few of them. Especially kids’ books that they have outgrown or show no interest in. Just get rid of them! They are collecting dust and adding to your stress when you walk in that room!
#4 on the list is extra pet supplies. Have a collar that your furry friend has grown out of? Get rid of it! Pass it on to another fur parent friend. Got extra leashes/coats/clothes for your pet, pick your favourite 5 – chances are that will be more than enough. Go through the toys and pull out the broken ones. How many toys are you picking up daily? Maybe you can stand to get rid of a few extra toys! Go through treats and make sure they have not expired.
#3 on the list is any parts of games, puzzles, or toys that may be lingering around where they don’t belong. If you have cards missing from a deck of cards, just get rid of the deck! If you have old games that you haven’t played in forever and see no future time to play, get rid of it. If you’re a puzzle person and have so many you don’t know what to do with anymore, it’s time to donate a few or give them to a friend who also loves puzzles!
#2 on the list is getting rid of all those expired coupons, junk mail, and piled up receipts. If you know you’re not going to return anything from a specific receipt in the store – toss it! Once you are done with the receipts, they’ve got to go! All that paper builds up and just hangs out everywhere!
The #1 thing on the list is old electronic cords and chargers that you no longer need. If you have any old electronic cords laying around or tucked away in a junk drawer, it’s time to get rid of them. In particular, if you have any broken cords, toss them now! If you have cords that don’t charge your current devices, they are not worth having around anymore.
Get a move on in the decluttering of your main living spaces. There is so much freedom in the purge!
