An absolutely free day!

Were you able to get everything done by the 15th?? Are you still crossing a couple last minute things off your list? Are you pulling your hair out trying to figure out how you will ever get so many things done?? Whatever situation you are in, think about carving off at least one hour sometime between now and Christmas. Use it as time with no to-do list. Ignore your chaos for just one hour! It would be great to have half a day or even a full day to just take the time to do whatever you want! Think about how you would use that free time! What would you do to really enjoy your time before the big day? What is at the top of your relaxing or recharging list?

If you are still not done everything, how are you feeling? Figure out a pace that would get things done by your deadline and try to stick with it! Then, see if you can double your pace so that you can earn some time for yourself. How hard would you be willing to work so that you could still have one whole day or even a half day to chill out and find your Zen before Christmas? As impossible as it may seem, you can do it!!

When you do carve off that bit of time for you, try creating a ‘Thankful List”

Getting your head space into a thankful state rather than expectant, worried, or overwhelmed can make the difference between a magical Christmas and a miserable Christmas. Be thankful for health, friends, family, even other things like money for the food and presents you were able to buy (hopefully without going into debt!) Just spend some time to be thankful for what you have, no matter how much or how little. It’s amazing how much a little extra awareness about what you are thankful for can change your perspective over the holidays.

If you can’t take a break before Christmas, at least spend a bit of time after the holidays with yourself. Spend some time reflecting on it all. Think about the things that went well and you want to do again next year. Think about the things that did not go well and consider ways of improving it for next year. Again, and always, find ways to be thankful! You can even write notes into next year’s December on your digital calendar so that you can remember some of the feelings from this year.

And for next year, if you didn’t make the 15th deadline, I highly encourage you to work as hard as you can to do it! It makes you feel like a rock star!!

Thanks for coming home!
