How many times have you gone out to buy specific coloured plates or napkins for a party just to store the leftover amount for some other future party??
Especially kids’ parties! Am I right?
Same goes for all that plastic cutlery, those balloons, or even special candles and other theme matching decor.
It’s time to go through all of that stuff and get rid of as much of it as you can!
It’s tempting to hold on to it because you may need that exact colour again in the future! But, is it worth the hassle of storing it? Probably not!
You don’t need any of it!
Unless you’re hosting a party next week, I guess!
It’s great to be able to add to the theme of the party, and believe me! I am the first to try to ensure every part of the party is on theme! But there are so many ways to be creative with the theme and still get away with using regular napkins or even reusable plates.
Party supplies take up an incredible amount of storage space. You may think that just one set of plates is fine or holding onto a specific coloured napkin is nothing. But it’s so easy to let that accumulate! It’s so easy for it to become a toppling tower of plates. You may find yourself holding on to great themed napkins – but then, you rarely pull them out because they don’t actually absorb the messes that are spilled at parties! It may be better to sell off or donate all of your supplies and find the right ones for the next party when it’s time to plan the next one.
When the kids were younger, I stocked up on all kinds of themed party supplies at various discount stores – because you never knew what the ‘in’ character was going to be! But, even at a good deal, I probably ended up spending just as much or more, than if I had simply been choosey about what party supplies I did gather…when it was time to plan the party!!!
It may seem like a waste, especially when you can find stuff on a good deal, BUT is it really worth it if the stuff is damaged by the time you need it anyway?
The worst part of storing the supplies is knowing you have the perfect thing, to pull it out of storage, and find it crushed by the storage system you’ve kept it in. Whether that’s a bag or a bin, party supplies get crumpled very easily!
So, go through all those supplies, think about how you store them, and if your storage method is likely to ruin the supplies, then critically think about the stuff you will actually use THIS YEAR! If you’re saving it for a way future time, it may be more worth it to part with it!
Or, as an alternate solution, host a lot of parties this year!! 🙂
