Solve your clutter issues by focusing on your excuses!

If you want to change the clutter in your home, focus on your excuses!

Figure out what your main excuse is…

Is it time? Is it money for organizing supplies? Is it the other people in your house?

If you can figure out what your big excuse is, then you can slowly work around it.

If your excuse is time, switch how you use your time. Look in your day to day and find a time that you consistently spend randomly lost in the world of TikTok or doom scrolling some other social media site. Plan on carving some time off and away from social media to do whatever it is that you feel like you can’t make time for! Depending on how much time you spend on your phone, you may feel like you have a whole extra day in your week!

If your excuse is money, work with what you have. I guarantee that if you start decluttering a closet or shelf, you can empty out a bin or a whole shelf in order to move stuff around or repurpose those bins. No need for expensive bins or storage solutions! They may not match, but at least you can save up for those bins down the road. Another great way to help with money and decluttering is to sell your stuff. Selling your stuff may mean that you don’t need as many storage spaces or bins. But if you do sell enough stuff then splurge! Get those matching bins from Winners or Target! Who knows, selling off your stuff may make your storage solutions more effective. Just crack down and sell a handful of items that you are ready to part with!

If your excuse is with the people living in the house, create a family or household plan! Make sure everyone has and is fully completing their tasks or their part of the responsibility. It’s a big deal to own a house or rent a space. To treat it well, you’ve got to think of it as a responsibility – same with everyone in the house! If someone in the house is particularly messy, help them instead of get angry with them. Talk to them about their stuff and why they want to keep it. They may actually just be keeping it because they think they have to. Remind them that they can let go.

Whatever your excuse is, think about it and analyze it. Think about why that is your excuse, what thoughts you have that make you think your excuse must be true, think about how you can turn it around, think about how you can flip your excuse into action.

As soon as you can figure out what is really at the core of your excuses, you can suddenly make huge strides in your progress!

So change the amount of clutter in your home! The only thing that is truly in your way… is you!

Thanks for coming home!
