So, let’s say that you have been a rock star meal planner through the last couple weeks, you’ve even made a few extra meals for those nights that you otherwise would just order in because you’re too sick of thinking and cooking! You go, girl!!
BUT, now… your fridge is full of containers of leftovers!
Do you struggle to remember what you made which night? You want to be sure that you know you can use it up before it hits the trash can!
Even if I plan ahead and write down the meals that I’ve made, sometimes, I switch the nights for the meal which throws off my brain and my memory by the time the next week rolls around. I don’t want to throw out perfectly good food!
I started a sticker system! Because, really, who doesn’t love stickers?!
I got these small dot stickers from Amazon, but any small stickers or even tape will do. I love the small dots because they are easy to remove, easy to see because they’re so bright, and easy to label with a sharpie!

I have a bit of a strange system for labeling days of the week, I go by M, T, W, R, F, A, U – Thursday uses an R from my university days. I struggled to figure out a good letter for the weekend days but decided to go with the second letter, so A for Saturday and U for Sunday. I used to use Sa or Su, but these dots are so small that only one letter can fit!
I use two different colours to alternate weeks. Green is last week, pink is this week. Green will again be next week, and I will know that any existing greens can be finished, tossed, or frozen (depending on what it was) once the new greens come around!

The trick now is to get other household members on board, too!
What’s your system for using up your leftovers?
