From mess to less on the dresser!

It never really takes much to tidy and declutter a certain area; what takes the most amount of work is keeping it tidy! Doing the push and blitzing a certain area of the house is actually kind of satisfying! I mean, whew! All done and looks amazing! Right? Almost instant gratification! But now, that space becomes a new clean space to quickly put something down (instead of putting it where it actually belongs!)

Work hard now for just 10 minutes! Find a messy spot in your house to tidy up and declutter. When I say work hard, I mean work up a sweat! Move quickly to ensure that everything goes where it needs to go! Rush to make sure that whatever space you are tidying and decluttering can actually be finished at the end of the ten minutes! It always boggles my mind how little time it actually takes to clear a space!

Getting it cleared is not the end of the task, though! Make yourself commit the time to keep up with it by making yourself work hard on that same space for only ONE minute every single night! You’d be amazed at what can stay clean with just one minute of laying eyes on that space. Most of the time, the random stuff that gets placed there actually has a home! Taking the time to put everything away properly is what takes the most work, and that’s what you can do in one minute!

Challenge yourself to keep the space tidy and clean for an entire week! At the end of the week, see how your mind starts to shift from quickly putting stuff down in that space to not even wanting to put stuff down in that space! It doesn’t take long to shift that thinking, but it does take some effort every day!

This is my weekly challenge for myself – keeping it clean and tidy all week long!

What area of the house are you going to challenge yourself to?? What table top or space in your house is driving you crazy? Attack it! Then, be proud of it by putting in a bit of daily effort.

Thanks for coming home!

  1. That’s so true – the challenge doesn’t end with the first finished declutter.

But, hopefully with ongoing mini declutters the mess never gets out of hand again.
