Do you prefer having stuff? Or doing stuff?

Having stuff is great – but I wouldn’t have a blog if I wasn’t trying to get rid of most of that stuff, right?!!

Having stuff can be fun because it lets you do a certain amount of things at any moment in time. I mean, it’s in the house, so no need to go out and get stuff to do. But once it crosses the line into having too much stuff, you lose a certain amount of freedom to actually DO stuff. It’s almost impossible to truly enjoy doing stuff in your house if it is cluttered.

The key is to find some sort of balance between having stuff and still maintaining your feeling of freedom to do stuff. But it’s hard to find that line.

Once you start getting some stuff, it often leads to wanting more stuff because you get to see how having SOME stuff actually makes it easier to do stuff and do it for less money than going out and paying full price for some of those things. Think kids’ crafts and activities! If you can stock up on some stuff while it’s on sale then, when you do need it, you already have it and can easily pull it out to do stuff! Like on a rainy day when the kids are going wild and just need a quick activity to do to pass the time! So then, the next time you are shopping and see more deals, you may stock up even more because it was so easy to pull out an activity last time!

This is where the fine line steps in and you can quickly start to get too much of that same stuff, which makes it more overwhelming to pull stuff out to do! It creates a bit of a vicious cycle of getting stuff!

So, if ever you are debating whether to get rid of something or keep it, ask yourself, “Does this allow me to do stuff, or does this stand in the way of me doing stuff?”

Don’t let your stuff get in the way of your freedom!

Thanks for coming home!
