Now that you’re done all the wrapping – and maybe if it’s still easily accessible, declutter it!!!
Go through your tags, tape, scissors, markers, ribbon, bows, string, labels, tissue paper, gift bags, gift boxes, wrapping paper!!! Get rid of anything you ‘almost used but chose not to’, get rid of anything that’s ripped or shredded, get rid of dull scissors, get rid of short strips of ribbon, get rid of crinkled gift bags!
Tidy up the space you use for your gift wrapping so that next year, you know that everything is in great condition and ready to use! This is especially handy if you have early birthdays in January and February.
By the by… you don’t only need to work on Christmas stuff. Declutter birthday stuff as well! Also, declutter any gift wrapping supplies that you have for any other occasion, like weddings, babies, graduations, etc. When you do need to give a special occasion gift in the future, you may just want to pick out something special for someone, something that is maybe more unique to that individual. The dollar store has great gift bags and wrapping options – no need to store it all! Also, most people aren’t having life events at the last second, which gives you time to head out to the store and pick out something special!
Just get rid of these disposable supplies before they take over your house!!! Focus on keeping things simple, functional, and easy to use. You will enjoy gift giving so much more when you have the right amount of supplies to make it easy rather than overwhelming!
On a final note, if you have gathered a lot of wrapping garbage today, think about the supplies you’re keeping. Consider keeping recycle friendly options so that you don’t need to fill up the garbage as much next year!
Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy the company of loved ones today!
