When clutter has always been there, it makes it seem ‘normal’.
It doesn’t become a priority of tidying because the rest of the room gets tidied. The neglected clutter just sticks. You don’t even notice the clutter around the edges or on the wall because you’re used to it being there! It’s kind of like a leech, the bloodsucking parasite! If you have ever had a leech on you, you know it can be kind of surprising when you find it, because you didn’t feel the pain of it. It was just hanging out while nibbling away at you to suck your blood. Kind of like some places in your home where clutter builds up, then you just no longer use the space because it’s full. Now the clutter just sits there, nibbling away at your calm, sucking your peace, and you don’t even notice it because maybe it’s been that way for so long. But it does add to your stress.

Until you organize a space like this, you don’t even realize how much it has been bothering you!
Find places like this in your home. These are great places to start your decluttering journey because you will immediately notice the change. Guests might, too!
And, if for some reason you think you don’t have a spot like that in your home, have a good, trusted friend over and ask them what is the messiest spot in your house, or what looks like the most cluttered area. They will be able to help identify something. Outsiders don’t see your house the way you do. They will notice little messy spaces that you might not think of because it’s been messy for so long.
On that note, if you’re wondering how easily I can make those smoothies again, well…

What a difference to my mornings!
Wish me luck for the next project. This next space has been cluttered for a couple of years now, so I am so excited to tackle it once and for all! I might even remove the wall organizer – it’s clearly not working for me!

Looking good!
