When you’re working on a project that you think is going to be overwhelming or that you know you won’t get done in one go, take a progress photo!
When you are working away on one spot, it can feel never-ending, and it can be really hard to actually see and be proud of your progress. Taking a photo can help you realize that you are, in fact, getting there!
Your brain will play tricks on you when you are working on decluttering a larger project or space. It will constantly remind you that the mountain you are climbing is getting bigger. Let the pictures remind you that you are moving up the mountain and that it is actually getting easier and looking better and better!
This unit is still cluttered. That’s a given! But it is looking better than it was!

This is the difference between the before and the progress made. If you only focus on the true before and after, you miss out on capturing all the hard work that went into a specific area!
Snap a quick photo after each decluttering session! Compare them any time you are feeling like you are getting nowhere! Show yourself that you are, in fact, making progress, no matter how slow. You just have to stick with it!
Continue working on the same space until you are satisfied, even if it takes you a couple of weeks or longer!
Slow is still movement!
