If you are relentlessly decluttering all the chaos from your home and are donating or selling off all the things you no longer need in your life, don’t forget about your phone!
Your phone, whether you consider it or not, can hold on to a lot of clutter!
Your phone can be a great asset to keeping you organized and connected in your day to day life. But, it can also distract you and weigh you down in a way you likely haven’t considered!
Are you an app-y person?
Look through all of your apps! Are they helping your day to day or are they getting in the way? If you can’t remember what an app is for, it’s worth getting rid of it! Maybe you’re even paying for an app that you don’t use! Consider creating folders for your apps to keep them more organized. That way, you can easily find the apps you want to use.
You can also consider the in-app info. Think of things saved in apps like Facebook or Pinterest. Spend some time sorting the items you have saved and delete anything that you no longer need. Same for emails. Consider removing yourself from subscription emails that aren’t relevant to you anymore.
If you use a lot of different apps, see if you can find a single app that covers the various purposes instead of using a different app for each thing. For example, a calendar app might be able to take notes, save birthday gift lists, record recipes, and track basic household inventory, rather than using a food app and a calendar app and a memo app. It’s all about reducing the number of apps that are on your phone, which will even help the performance and speed of your phone.
Do you take endless photos?
If you take an average of 10-15 photos per day, you may want to consider spending some time looking at your photos. Delete anything that is blurry. Delete anything that appears as a duplicate or review similar photos to pick the best one! Delete old screenshots of random things that you no longer need. You’ll be surprised how lifted you feel!
Are you a document person?
If you constantly start new documents for whatever reason or use a note app for jotting down different lists, sort through them from time to time. Again, focus on deleting anything that you no longer need or remove yourself from sharing documents that are no longer relevant for you.
Don’t forget to check out your downloads folder.
Sometimes, you are forced to download things from websites as you are browsing or searching for something specific. You may have to download different documents, even if just for temporary viewing. You may not need it permanently. Sort through that list of documents often and remove anything that you don’t need anymore.
The clutter that overwhelms your life is not only taking up the physical space in your home. There’s a large amount of clutter in your digital life that is also clogging up your mind and your ability to get clarity in your life. Open up your phone, open up your apps, and start decluttering there, too!
