Focus on the life you want to live!

When decluttering, it can be hard to know what the right things to get rid of are. Especially if you have sentimental things!

If you truly focus on the life you want to live, it can make some of your tough decluttering choices easier.

If you love hosting groups,  keep sentimental conversational platters or serving dishes.

If you love crafting, keep sentimental decor items or make decor items out of sentimental crafting equipment.

If you love sports, keep sentimental items related to your favourite team!

Make your clutter decisions easier!

So, let’s say you love sports, but you have a really unique chess board. But, you don’t play chess, and you don’t have a lot of interest in chess. AND, you’d rather display your cool sports paraphernalia!! It would be a good idea to get rid of the chess board even if it means something to you or was gifted by someone special. Holding onto it keeps you riddled with guilt over it and keeps you holding on to something that you will likely forget you even own because it’s stored safely in some box in the basement!

Focus on the life you want to live!

Let that be your guide to what you keep and what you don’t. Then, your stuff will better align with your passions!

Focus on your passions!

Good luck with your sentimental decluttering. It is by far the hardest type of clutter to part with but the most rewarding if you spend the proper amount of time on it. How much time is up to you and what you need. Keeping something that you love and something that aligns with what or how you will use or display it is the best combo!

Ask yourself how you will display it or how you will use it. If the answer aligns with your passions and how you want to live your life, keep it and use it! If you are going to put it in a box, allow yourself to part with it because it doesn’t serve you well.

Thanks for coming home!
