Celebrate what’s working!

I don’t know about you, but I spend a fair bit of time looking for ways to improve the systems that I use, or search for new efficiencies to make the day to day routine better.

But that can create a bit of a negative trap. It leads me to focus on what needs fixing. Or, worse, it makes me find things that need fixing! Even if they don’t need fixing!

I sometimes forget to celebrate the wins!

When things are going smoothly in your household, think about what is working well. Pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself and your family for the success!

Don’t change the process if it’s working! Just stick with it. In fact, take it one step further and write down what, how, or why it’s working and come back to those notes each time you’re in a funk. It will basically be a guide for how to pull yourself out of the negative cycle so that you can find the positive and get some momentum back!

When things get overwhelming, it’s easy to feel the weight of all of the problems! In the house, with the clutter, even various relationship foibles. Try not to let it take you down. Chances are that it’s been busy or something specific is taking more time or energy than planned.

Instead of feeling the weight of everything, try to see something positive. Try to find the win. Realize that even though things may be overwhelming now, it’s only temporary. Find something good about your routine, your space, or even your family and zone in on that. Celebrate that positivity! Pull your energy from that. Then, get up and get cracking on those overwhelming parts!

When we can step back and see the positive and truly celebrate it, it provides a good natural energy that you can build on. It will give you encouragement that something is working well, it will give you motivation, and it will empower you to keep pushing forward and keep showing up every day!

Celebrate in front of or with your kids! They need to see that even small wins need to be recognized sometimes. The world is crazy right now. Every bit of momentum you can gain at tough points in your life needs to be used to propel you forward!

If you need celebration ideas, I am talking about little things like, throwing your hands in the air while you shout “yes”, or getting everyone together for a hands in cheer, or even a mini dance party. I’m not talking about going out for dinner or ice cream. These are little wins. They need recognition, but not a badge or hefty receipt to show for it! These win celebrations are all about bringing that inner positive energy to the surface! Find your way! Get your kids involved in coming up with a family cheer! Just make it fun and light!

Keep in mind that whatever area of your life that is overwhelming today, will eventually be the part that you celebrate when it becomes a win!

Thanks for coming home!
