This is your second week working in your kitchen! Kitchens just accumulate a lot of random things. Things that likely seemed useful at one time or another. Last week was all about the food. This week is all about the actual stuff!
If you have gadgets and gizmos of plenty, you may want to consider getting rid of some that are less functional for you now!
Use the week to go through all of your kitchen tools and gadgets and gizmos, including your appliances.
Sort through your Tupperware and random lunch containers. Match containers with their lids and get rid of anything that doesn’t have a partner!
Do you need all of your knives? Spatulas? Do you have any unique serving or prepping tools? Think herb cutters or strippers that you don’t use that much. A melon baller perhaps? Multiple graters?
Do you make a lot of paoched eggs but have poaching tools? Or do you have egg cups (for ALL those occasions that you are making dippy eggs!??)
Think about your pots and pans, your bakeware, your casserole dishes, and any special occasion items! Do you have or even use cookie cutters??
If it’s not something that you use on a relatively frequent basis it’s worth getting rid of! If it’s something that you only use one time per year, ask yourself if can use something else or if you do in fact really need that item!
Think about your appliances too! Do you still use that breadmaker? The crock pot? Do you pull out that Instant pot? Do you use your cake pop maker, popcorn maker, waffle maker, sandwich maker, or maybe quesadilla maker?? Worse, do you have multiples of any of them? It’s time to say goodbye to the things you just don’t use much anymore!
Really try to imagine simplifying your kitchen and plan out the way you use it. Get rid of appliances that you don’t use that often so that you can put your regularly used appliances in a more easy to access space. Think of your gadget drawers; getting rid of a handful of less useful or single use tools can help make the ones you use more often, easier to pull out of the drawer.
The more gadgets and gizmos that you have in your kitchen, the less you remember that you have them and the less likely you are to use any of them since the drawer may be jammed so full.
Be detailed and thorough to get the most out of your week and to gain the most out of your kitchen!
Have fun with your week and really enjoy opening up and discovering your new free space in your kitchen.
