The Purge, Part 3: The dreadful befores and the better afters

So when I was digging around in my pictures folder to re-find all these after pictures it initially made me sad! I remembered the after pictures being more done. I took the photos to capture the rooms as they were, no organizing just decluttering! I also took the photos quickly with only me in mind. They were just for me to know how far I had come. The pictures were not even taken from the same angle *slaps forehead!

Decluttering is more of a process than a start and finish.

So there is no real finish line to achieve. The goal is more of a feeling; the space and stuff must become more comfortable and WAY easier to use. The efficiency and functionality increases with organizing!

So alas, I give you my before and after pictures.

The less space that our stuff has taken away from our house, the more fun it has been to really live and enjoy the days. We are no longer fighting…as much, I mean we are married AND have young kids so there’s obviously still fighting! But now, as I take on more organizing projects our house is becoming way more efficient! It functions more to enhance our lives, rather than weigh us down. At the end of the night, we still have a few messes here and there. The best part though…

I can tidy and vacuum any room in the house in less than 10 minutes! I’ve timed it!

There are many more pictures to come that detail some of the ways in which I have organized the house. Decluttering is one step, for me it was the hardest step because we had (and still probably have) too much stuff. The only way I could do it, was to go through everything in ONE week.

Now, on to the organizing. Its my favourite part! I can’t wait to share more!

Thanks for coming home

  1. “But now, as I take on more organizing projects our house is becoming way more efficient! It functions more to enhance our lives, rather than weigh us down.” This is the GOAL. I’m on a decluttering & organizing path/journey/whatever you want to call it & your blog is very inspiring! Thanks for this post. It’s gotten me quite motivated to do some more decluttering tomorrow.
