Rethink your weekly plan

Sitting down on a Sunday night to look at and plan out your upcoming week can be a sacred ritual to get the most out of your week. It’s so easy, though, to get lost in the chaos of extra curriculars and chores!

What if, instead of thinking and planning for the mundane grind, we actually plan for the fun and let the mundane fit into our lives.

So, sit down on Sunday night and put the have to’s in your calendar, like extra curriculars, work, and important appointments. No chores! No other errands!

Next, add in some things that you don’t normally prioritize but that you really want to be doing with your time. It could be coffee with a friend. A hike on a nearby trail. Maybe you really want to get your nails done. How about learning something new? Maybe it’s a date night with your spouse. Put one or two of those things in your calendar for the week. Each week, pick a different thing or two that you feel like you can never make/have time for.

We often make time for things like chores, and we miss out on prioritizing the things that really matter in our lives. Then we get to the end of the day, week, or even year, and think back to how busy we were, and we promise to make more time for social connection or self care next year. What if, instead, we truly prioritize those things! You may find that you feel better, which actually makes our chores easier and more manageable!

Only having chores to do in our free time makes life seem unfulfilling! We need to find ways that we feel fulfilled so that those menial tasks don’t feel like they are sucking the life out of us!

So, instead of putting vacuuming the floors or decluttering the whole kitchen on your to-do list. Put a coffee date with a friend on there! Or add go for a run at the top of your to-do list! Put one hour all by yourself on your to-do list – doesn’t that sound sweet? Prioritizing these things mean that they happen first! THEN, you can do the rest.

Time flies! Make sure you are doing some of the things you love to do! The rest will fall into place!

Thanks for coming home!
