As you declutter your home and create some room to breathe, it might actually be difficult to deal with the empty spaces. How many times have you worked on completely clearing a space just to have it fill up again in a week or month? You might be so used to the clutter that you feel temporarily happy with an emptyish space, only to fill it again with stuff because now there’s space to fill!
It can also be hard to handle the echo. Maybe you have emptied a space so much that you are now hearing a strange echo as you move around or talk in the room.
Sometimes, it can be hard to go to an extreme level of getting rid of things you no longer need. It can be hard to come to the realization that you will feel better getting rid of so much stuff.
The key is to find something that you love to display more than you love keeping the stuff you are holding on to!
That way, it becomes easier to spend the time decluttering, AND it’s easier to ignore the temptation of going shopping for more stuff that will fill the space. Obviously, you don’t want to clutter your house too much after decluttering, but choosing to display things that you really love can help you find some motivation to keep clearing your space!
Display things that energize you!!
This could be something like plants! There are all kinds of sizes of plants that can fit into all kinds of spaces, like shelves, cubbies, on top of cabinets in the kitchen, or even on the corner of a desk.
Another way to make the space feel energizing for you is hanging art or photos around the house. Remove some furniture or shelves if you have to expose the walls. Hang something that you love!
You could even display your hobbies. If you play guitar, for example. (You may even have more than one guitar!) Hang them on the walls. It makes them easy to play, and it’s a great conversation starter!
If you prefer change in your home, try stepping up your seasonal decorations. As long as you have storage for when it’s not in use, you can splurge on filling the space with special seasonal decorations. You can find a way to change it up as many times as you want throughout the year, based on the actual seasons, or it could be holiday specific!
Replacing your clutter with something that makes you feel energized and excited can change the way your home feels! It can even change your shopping habits! You may become so happy with the new look that you don’t even want to buy those other things.
Being proud of your home goes a long way to keeping up with the tidying and the decluttering. So fill it with things that make you feel great and that re-energize you!

Great advice!
