Walk your way to less stress this holiday season

If you find yourself particularly overwhelmed this holiday season, just go for a walk!

It sounds easier said than done, but it’s actually that simple.

When you feel your blood boiling because you’re working your butt off to make everything magical and everyone else seems to be sitting around – just head out for a walk! It doesn’t mean that you need to head out for a 3 hour walk – though there’s something magical about that idea!

A 10-minute walk is the best!

Walk as fast as you can but still be able to hold a conversation! The key is to get your heart rate up and burn off some of that stress. Going for a leisure walk is great, but that’s not what this walk is about!

This is a stress walk!

The goal is to re-focus your energy so that you can quickly get back to the things that you need to do!

To amp up the power of your walk, record a voice message of the things that are stressing you out. You might be able to shed new light on what is really bothering you or, at the very least, you can get it all off your chest as you do something that you know is good for yourself!

Here are just a few reasons why this is the best thing you can do when you’re stressed:

  1. It’s good for your body to move at a fast pace
  2. It’s good for your heart to get your heart rate up
  3. It means you are less likely to reach for a sugary stress snack
  4. It may lead to you drinking more water, and hydration is great!
  5. It allows you to physically and literally take a break from your stress
  6. It teaches your kids a healthy way of dealing with your stress

I am sure you can come up with your own good reasons why this stress fighting method can help you!

Give it a try this week! If it’s late at night and the need strikes, stick to a safe route and grab a flashlight to make sure you get noticed by the cars.

The power of fresh air truly is amazing! Keep yourself grounded this holiday season!

Thanks for coming home!
