Take a break from your habits!

Think back to how you felt leading up to January 1st and compare your thoughts or goals from then to where you are now and what your daily actions are now… Do they line up?

Have you reverted to some of the not so helpful habits that you were hoping to break for 2025? Or are you well on your way to conquering what you set out to accomplish? Or are you somewhere in between the two?

March is a great time of year to refocus your energy and regain some traction on accomplishing your goals! Often, by now, those old habits are creeping in and slowly taking over any positive progress you may have made.

Go back over the plans you wrote down or write down some new plans to help you figure out what habits you can focus on to ensure that you are living with your goals in mind.

If you find yourself stuck with old habits, just simply take a break from them!

You don’t have to give them up entirely, but maybe cut back or pause them for a while. Tell yourself you can get back into your bad habits after a month of focusing on good habits. You might not even miss your bad habits after taking a break from them!

Retrain your brain by refocusing your actions!

I find that using March to refocus is particularly timely, especially if you have healthy habits as your focus, whether it’s fitness or healthy eating. Here in Canada, spring and summer are on their way, and that means a wardrobe change. Feel good about getting into your spring and summer clothing by focusing on your health. Rather than finding your shorts too snug in another month or two, you may find relief with them fitting perfectly, or maybe even having them become a little too big! The actions that you take now will make it either a welcome wardrobe change or a costly one!

If tidying or decluttering were part of your resolutions, focus on spending at least some of your day on a messy spot of the house! Summer being around the corner may mean last minute get togethers and impromptu visits – get your house ready for it so that you can feel at ease instead of on pins and needles!

Thinking of it as taking a break from your bad habits allows you the capacity to focus on different habits – even just for a short while. Giving yourself that grace, instead of beating yourself up, can sometimes make all the difference in your attitude towards the change and make some of those good habits stick!

Take a pause on the old you so that you can empower yourself to get ready for the new you!

Thanks for coming home!

  1. I like the idea of a refresh every three months to either refocus or make some tweaks to your original goals.
