It’s great to have hobbies! I, for one, am a huge encourager of everyone finding hobbies they love. I believe that everyone can find something that they love to do that isn’t part of their regular labels in life. Like, something that isn’t being a mom, homeowner, wife, etc! Everyone needs something else of their own that helps them get through some of the longer, less fun days.
The problem with hobbies, though? They generally come with a bit (or a lot!!) of clutter. I mean, to really get into a hobby, you need supplies. Finding those supplies on sale is obviously a cost win, but it means that it takes up a little more space than you may have anticipated!
The picture below shows one of the closed door cubbies in my unit that I have been decluttering! Because there is a door on the unit, it quickly became a space where I shoved partial projects that I started or projects that I was excited to start! But, that also means that it became a bit of a dumping zone or a quick, stash it away, type of space.

Any hobby storage place is a place that you need to lay eyes on often! Even lay fingers on everything often! It’s easy to forget about projects – even when you are enjoying making them or excited to start them – when you have a billion other things on the go in ‘real’ life. Prioritizing your hobbies can be tricky, which causes some of the ‘stashing away for a rainy day’ habit when it comes to cleaning up your hobby supplies. It’s why this particular cubby is, well, a little less than organized.
When you have a space like this, that is cluttered and unbalanced, it can make it tricky to even want to pull out your projects! It’s why it’s so important to keep these spaces even tidier than some of the other places in the house. I mean, if you have a hobby you enjoy and you have the supplies to do it, it usually means that you WANT to spend the time on that hobby!
The easiest way to decrease clutter in your hobby space or spaces is to use bins or boxes to keep smaller parts and pieces together without creating a toppling tower.

Keeping things organized in a box also makes it really easy to pull out the box to actually spend time doing your hobby of choice! Put all the essentials for one or two projects into the box. Even if you have extra things in the space or on the shelf, the box is still easy to pull out, even if you only have 10 minutes here and there to work on your hobbies!
The easier it is to work on your hobbies, the more you can enjoy your down time, AND the less likely you are to pull out your phone and start the doom scroll of the evening!
Enjoy your hobbies more by reducing their clutter and keeping them organized so that you have easy access to do the things you love to relax and recharge!

So true! If your project is easily accessible it gives you the ability to work on it even just for 5 minutes.
