Declutter your expectations of what you think life ‘should’ be!

If you go to bed at night thinking to yourself that you should be at a certain point in life by now, or you should have accomplished something huge by now, or you should have a happier life than you currently do – Declutter all of that thinking. Just toss it!!

What’s done is done!

You are where you are, like it or not!

Instead of focusing on what your expectations are of where you should be now, try turning the question in on yourself.

What is holding you back from being where you think you ‘should’ be?

Be gentle with yourself, but also, be honest with yourself.

Where do you think you should be, and what is standing in your way, and why have you not gotten to where you ‘should’ be yet?

Figure out if the expectations still hold true. Do you even still want that life?

What steps can you start taking that actually get you closer to where you think you ‘should’ be?

If you think you ‘should’ be a pro athlete, but you haven’t trained in years, you might beat yourself up for not pushing yourself harder. But the reality is that you haven’t been training! So, if you still want to be a great athlete, just start training.

Of course, it’s easier to write that than to do it!

Figure out what was standing in your way before, what were the roadblocks you faced, physically and emotionally! Figure out how you can make those roadblocks smaller so that you can get over them. Then work hard!

Often, we think that life should go a certain way, and when it gets hard, we look for an easy way through or a shortcut. Check yourself. What shortcuts have you taken that have allowed you to get where you are instead of where you want to be.

Understanding what you let get in your way in the past may help you change your future path.

Declutter your thinking about where you should be. Work instead on understanding why you are where you are. Again, be honest with your own self. Try to acknowledge your part in the journey rather than blaming others.

Plan a few small steps that help you change your path. Forgive yourself, accept where you are. And work, bit by bit, to get that life that you want!

Get to where you think you ‘should’ be!!

Thanks for coming home!
