Reset your daily habits to get back on track before September!

I prioritize fun and adventure each summer, so much so that the rest of the house tends to take a back seat. Coming and going from the house always causes a build up of clutter either at the front door or on the stairs or even in the garage.

The worst part about it is that if I have a day off, instead of resetting, I tend to prioritize relaxing or doing something to recharge because we have been so busy! What a way to get SO far behind on all my home goals and maintaining clutter!

It seems so much harder to force myself back into a routine rather than just maintain one. And, every summer, I tell myself I will stay focused and on top of all of my habits. The first week might go well, generally the second too, but by August, I start to feel behind in everything!

So, if you are in the same boat, I suggest using the last few weeks in August to help with resetting gradually rather than all at once in September!

Start small by waking up 5-10 minutes earlier each week. Or go back to using timers for a 10 minute speed clean or 15 minute clutter buster. Commit to eating one healthy meal each day if your eating habits are off. Commit to walking for 20 minutes if your fitness routine is off the rails.

The idea is that doing a couple of these small habits even for just 2-3 weeks can give you that little taste of accomplishment that will get you on track before that back to school chaos starts.

Every day that you are home between now and back to school, do some sort of habit that helps you for September. Remember, like I suggested above, it doesn’t have to be a whole life change. You don’t need to tackle all of your habits at once. Focus on one or two. That will be enough to give you that feeling of success and that confidence in your step that will help you face that first week of September head on!

I am picking walking and clutter busting! What are you going to do to help you reset for the back to school season? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for coming home!

  1. Great tips.
I am swimming first thing in the morning. Total game changer for how I feel for the rest of the day.
I am also trying to have healthier whole food meals at home.
