Simplify your donation decisions!

Decluttering your house intentionally is different than decluttering your house while you go about your normal day.

When you declutter a space intentionally you probably get ready to dive deep! You likely set up some bags or bins for donate items, garbage items, and maybe some things to sell or recycle.

That’s all well and good but what about small moments where you find something in your home that you no longer need and are ready to part with? Do you put it aside? Do you forget about it and just keep it anyway? Does it have to go in some bin deep in the garage or basement? How likely are you to actually get rid of it?

Grab some extra bins!

I love having a few permement donate bins around the house! Yes, the bins take up some extra space, but it makes it very easy to make instant in the moment decisions about your clutter. Get a nice looking bin or storage box and place a bag inside. Add your stuff to the bag throughout the week or month, then, when you are ready to make a donate run, grab the bag and go! No need to think about anything, no need to go through the whole house. Just literally, grab and go! No need to stack it up in awkward piles on the stairs, or by the front door. Literally, just grab the donate bag and go!

Make decluttering a part of your every day life by adding a couple of key donate bins around your house.

One bin goes in your closet. Use it to collect any clothes that don’t fit quite right, belts, ties, accessories, even some old hats or purses. If you have kids in the house as well, then simply add one in the upstairs hallway to cover everyone’s closets.

Another great place for a donate bin is by the front door. This way, if there are any shoes that get outgrown, or seasonal gear that just isn’t right anymore, they can go straight into the donate bin instead of getting put back into rotation thinking you’ll get to it later. It’s also great for collecting anything from the main floor like some kitchen clutter, or even kids’ toy clutter.

Add one to the garage or basement. So many random things end up in those spaces and having a donate bin handy means that you can make decisions about your stuff on the fly.

When you are doing the 10 minute tidy at the end of the night, question whether you want to find a home for an item or if it’s more worth it to donte it and have your space.

Stay on top of your clutter once and for all! Use those handy donate bins!

Thanks for coming home!
